Poem -

Phoenix Queen

Let me burn,
my flowing dress a glorious wildfire of heat and light.
Let me burn,
my hair, once a sweet halo of braids and flowers, now a raging crown of scathing passion.
Let me burn,
my bones snap, crack, crackling under the wrathful lick of flames.
Oh, let me burn,
’til my alabaster wings crumble, there silken feathers curling like a gargoyles sneering lips
Let me burn.
And then from the embers I’ll rise.
My soul more ablaze than ever before.
