Piano Rhapsody

There's an empty stage there in Vegas
Where the piano man wouldn't play
The people are cheering
But they've grown restless
As his Hope's and his dreams fly away

And they sing to him a memory
About a different time another day
Where he could get by
With a glass of wine
And drink all of his problems away

Theres a piano on that stage in Vegas
Waiting for a tune to sing While he sits at his desk
Both night and day
But no bells ever seem to ring

No it doesn't sound how he planned it
He can't find the words that will rhyme
He picks up the pen
And he plays the keys
And listens one very last time

But he knows no one will listen
No one will like to hear what he plays
Yes The moment he's long been waiting for
Stays just another dream today

And the crowd begins to grow weary
Most of them have already gone
He looks over his shoulder
As his feet grow colder
And says "The show must go on!"

That stage in Vegas
That stage is mine
At least it was long ago
In a dream I left so far behind Like a plant with no water to grow

And the music would sound wonderful
If I could just find the tune to play
And if the words would reveal to me
Yes I know I'll be on that stage one day

Being Me

That poor piano man! To have it all and then it slips away when the music and the words fail to show up. Love the poem x

Thank you. It demonstrates my daily struggle of being a songwriter able to find words but never thinking they are good enough and being a piano player and not being able to find a nice tune

Being Me

I think sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Don't analyse your work too deeply... paralysis by analysis and all that x
