Pink Respect

I need to get this burden off my chest
For the weight of it’s breaking my back
And please…No jokes! I’ve heard the best
From a rack to being well stacked
Handful of trouble, these buxom things
Flaunted in mags and the silver screen
Big ones might earn more green cha~ching
While small ones rule the waif model scene
They’ve a passive aggressive history
Exploited but then viewed as an art
And I‘ve blamed all my darkest misery
On my curves and my girlie parts
All the unwelcome grasping and leers
I couldn’t stop with shock or scorn
Lecherous uncles I learned to fear
And so I resented the way I was born
UNTIL
My best friend calls with some scary news
That breaks my heart and my peace it plunders
About cancer and scars and post~op blues
And no need for push up bras of Wonder
So it got me thinking ‘bout what makes a girl
And all we do to enhance our fair state
False lashes, make up perfume and pearls
Are nothing more than powder and paint
Just as the size and state of our breasts
Are nothing compared to what lies inside
For a warriors brave heart is the real girl test
So wear that pink ribbon with hard earned pride
