To Play With Monsters

All she had was monsters
They walked the hall at night
She can hear them on the stairs
Outside her door
Their footsteps are identifiable to her as she lies in the dark
She can hear the floorboards creaking
And the shadow dulls the bulb
She's developed acute hearing
She knows their breathing
Can sense there excitement
DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME!
She's too small to fight this
She's out of her depth
She can't shout or scream because there's no one there
She can't run away she's too small
She can go inside
She can hide
They won't find her here
Under the coats on the bed
Under the layers of shit and dirt and grime
She can make herself big
She can find what she needs
She can trip her own switch
She has to survive
To stay alive
She has no other choice
But to learn to play with monsters

Hello GirlOnABike...
If you say Yes to Q&A...
Maybe, she wishes they just weren't People?
It can be a Very Long Life with them if you're meant to stay...
There's Comedy somewhere in there?
Monsters on her side could turn into Heroes?
Did she did do it all alone?
Who really knows the knows?
Great write!
