A POET AND HIS SHADES

A POET AND HIS SHADES
Viva La Mystery
Ricardo Antonio Garcia
So I wear shades and you say
I should show my eyes.
If I were a blind man my eyes would be still
and my love would be in my heart.
We judge the outside appearance
trying to fill our own illusions
or we become inquisitive to what prevails
demystifying the mystical.
I wear shades
because I do not want to be raped.
It is my Hijaab
against a World of prying eyes
that would like to distort and focus
their own conceptions
of my being in the Light.
Ah- the fragility of Man so speaks
and to be unveiled
we do see these things.
There is mystery
between you and me to be never resolved
until you yourself
become finally unveiled.
The lessons of persuasion is in words
not the direct consequence
of a forceful entry into a Mans mind.
As we learn to speak
the balance of our forceful natures
sequesters on the reef.
To remove my shades
would be to acknowledge submission
for the calls of Men
can be a vile delusion that power
can b e given a kind word.
