Poem -

porcelain

you look at me, a porcelain face
the flat black paint, study in contrast
the chiseled smile, the glassy eyes
a doll that you left on the shelf
dust has gathered, dulled the gloss
and clothes more than out of date
i have sat here above it all
the years went by and still i've watched
as you have gone on living your life
the most i'd ask is an occasional glance
but over time i turned invisible
the antique that you must have
but never learned to appreciate
now i've fallen, broken in pieces
and this is when you cry
sadly now i can't be repaired...
i waited and waited, but you never noticed
the pieces can't be mended this time
your doll, your girl is lost forever
i hope the next one will be loved more
a sad day when all that is familiar is lost
and desperation has no luster
forgive me forgive me.... i'm sorry...
