Portal

Dedicated to Elder Carter and Elder Fowler

Portal

We hold back the insidious darkness!
Allowing thee to attain the light.
Pleading thou not hesitate from starkness!
Passing through this fixed portal of night.

Thy destiny lies in yonder mountain,
Thou must find and fight thy way to the heights!
Establishing new life; at the life giving fountain,
Never returning to the keeper of knights!

Thou art endowed with gifts of knighthood,
And the power to conquer all thy foes!
With the rights of thine ordained priesthood,
To quench fiery darts; and the death seeking woes!

So stand tall, with blessed determination rise!
To become thine potential, the honored and wise!

Very well written. One thing I long for when I step into the afterlife. Clarity. That’s it really. Just some clarity please

As ever a beautiful use of the written word

Wow Jim this write just flows off the tongue so perfectly and demands more  attention with the rhyme scheme . I enjoyed the ending as it was building up and inspiring . Wicked good write !

Jim "The Lad" ....

thank you Marion! but I don't want to preach, I want to expound truth in a meaningful heart felt way! preachers make me nauseous! speaking using "thee" and " thou" is simply giving respect to deity when implying His actions or His words. I like using it in some of my writes because it seems to flow better sometimes. thank you for reading and your support my friend!

Jim I shall try again tomorrow to give your fine poem the five stars it thoroughly deserves.
And apologies for forgetting to give full honours first time round.
