Portal
Dedicated to Elder Carter and Elder Fowler
We hold back the insidious darkness!
Allowing thee to attain the light.
Pleading thou not hesitate from starkness!
Passing through this fixed portal of night.
Thy destiny lies in yonder mountain,
Thou must find and fight thy way to the heights!
Establishing new life; at the life giving fountain,
Never returning to the keeper of knights!
Thou art endowed with gifts of knighthood,
And the power to conquer all thy foes!
With the rights of thine ordained priesthood,
To quench fiery darts; and the death seeking woes!
So stand tall, with blessed determination rise!
To become thine potential, the honored and wise!

Very well written. One thing I long for when I step into the afterlife. Clarity. That’s it really. Just some clarity pleaseÂ
As ever a beautiful use of the written wordÂ
thank you for your kindness Gwen! I think we all strive for clarity, except for the sons of perdition!
Jim beautifully well written and a message I humbly agree with.
A true journey of a poem and the journey is a good and blessed one.
Thank you Jim for sharing and may God Bless and Keep you and the loved ones around you.
thank you for the support Shaun!
Readsike a million dollars when read outloud, Jim excellent poetry here. Sorry for not telling you before I went away for a while. Hope to catch up now!
glad you read it out loud my friend! happy to see you around!............Jim
Greg, your support means a lot! thank you!
your welcomeÂ
wonderful poemÂ
Wow Jim this write just flows off the tongue so perfectly and demands more  attention with the rhyme scheme . I enjoyed the ending as it was building up and inspiring . Wicked good write !Â
thank you Rob, glad you liked it! trying to be"good" is what it's all about!
Excellent write Jim...i imagined the pulpit and fire and brimstone ...you would make a fine preacher my friend...hugs đź’•
thank you Marion! but I don't want to preach, I want to expound truth in a meaningful heart felt way! preachers make me nauseous! speaking using "thee" and " thou" is simply giving respect to deity when implying His actions or His words. I like using it in some of my writes because it seems to flow better sometimes. thank you for reading and your support my friend!
Amen to that sentiment.Â
Thank you Liliana my gracious friend!Â
Jim I shall try again tomorrow to give your fine poem the five stars it thoroughly deserves.
And apologies for forgetting to give full honours first time round.
thank you Shaun for your support!
thank You Hj!
