Pre-Spring snow

Winter sputters to an end,
snow falling rapidly, accumulating.
March is an iffy month in midwestern United States.
Last week it was in the 70’s, now 30’s.
It won’t last long, the diamond glistening
of snow.

Longing for thunderstorms,
I must be patient.
They will come
with all their windy, flashing glory.
Not even the weather predictions
can tell us when.

My many seasons on this earth
tell me that they will come.
I welcome them when they come,
Grandmother Thunder sending us
messages of awesome power.
She is wondrous, cleansing, renewing, frightening.

Spring is coming soon.
