Premonitions

I see her in my dreams
a figure covered in dust
waiting to be found
if only I could find her
and reveal the beauty of the lost
She longs for sunlight
A breeze tickling her skin
The sweet smell of September
but the memories are replaced with grey
The icy stone floor and cold brick
Heavy footsteps approaching the only door
The sinister look of excitement on his face
A beautiful rose stepped on and squashed
Petals picked out one by one
A wilted stem is all that's left
She blames herself
How can someone so innocent deserve this torture?
She questions her existence and prays not to wake up again
Instead, she wakes to the sound of hell unlocking the door
It's barely living
Like a doll, chucked around and played with
without a second thought
No reason to stay, yet no way to leave
She hopes for the end of everything
I'm never able to save her in time
I watch her sink deeper and deeper
Slipping away from reality
She imagines a perfect world without pain
A utopia of euphoria
Giggling and giving gifts
Fancy flowers full of colour
Heartwarming Hugs from precious people
Fresh Fruits from Grandma’s garden
Running races along sizzling sand
She misses everything
Even the small things she used to take for granted
All she wishes for is to be free
To be outside of the tiny world she’s trapped in
To wake up from her nightmare
