Presence

A relationship separated since the lockdowns -- has it grown cold?

Presence

How do you imagine the autumn
Storms of orange and ruddy leaves?
From the cold, you’re safe in your bedroom
With us bundled and warm in your sheets.

How do you imagine the coffee shops
And the closeness of us on our dates?
With kisses that taste like spices in pumpkin,
Lattes envy the mix we create.

How do you imagine you and me
In this distance that keeps us apart?
When planes don’t fly to your city,
Am I still afloat in your heart?

For I imagine the fall just fine
As if mirrored clear in your eyes;
For I imagine our dates just fine
When my coffee tastes like your lips.

And I imagine us just fine
When my thoughts see you every day.
And I know that we will be just fine
Just because you say we’re okay.

Being Me

Hi Flurly!  This virus has a lot to answer for!  (Or rather China does but I wont talk about that). So much pressure on people when lovers, friends and family are kept apart. You have written a really beautiful poem here and I look forward to reading more from you x
