Preservations of Memoirs

Preservations of Memoirs

Broken promises and a shattered heart
Pen pals thousands of miles apart
Lost souls searching near and far
Today only a memoir...

A child seeking a home
The grown man tired of being alone
Connect through a letter peened
Two hearts now on the mend

Time would bring them closer
Proven neither was a poser
Her referencing him as dad
Him becoming so glad

Shared dreams coming true
If only they had knew
Then maybe someone could have intervened
And had her blood screened

Never knowing that time was short
Planned an adoption of sort
Her inspiration through his rhyme
His aspiration and favorite pastime

But time became the foe
An unknown cancer began to grow
Lost, alone in her fear
That this news would make him disappear

Holding back the truth
Strength even in her youth
Making up each excuse
Thinking what’s the use

Stage four brain cancer
No on had an answer
Tried pushing him away
But their connection never strayed

He received the saddened penned news
But still today he does refuse
To knowledge her being gone
Preservation of memoirs he’s holding on

A full but empty room
Himself lost in gloom
A tear soaked final pen
The sad reminder of what had been

“ promise me to write one a day while I’m away”...

Love you, your untouchable daughter

Being Me

Oh Patrick 🙊. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the pain that you are going through. A dear friend of mine also lost her daughter (on Sunday) to brain cancer. No parent should ever bury their child... And yet they do. So very sad. You have written such a heartfelt poem that deserves a galaxy of stars awarded to it. Hugs x
