Preservations of Memoirs

Broken promises and a shattered heart
Pen pals thousands of miles apartÂ
Lost souls searching near and far
Today only a memoir...
A child seeking a home
The grown man tired of being alone
Connect through a letter peened
Two hearts now on the mend
Time would bring them closer
Proven neither was a poserÂ
Her referencing him as dad
Him becoming so gladÂ
Shared dreams coming true
If only they had knewÂ
Then maybe someone could have intervenedÂ
And had her blood screenedÂ
Never knowing that time was short
Planned an adoption of sort
Her inspiration through his rhyme
His aspiration and favorite pastimeÂ
But time became the foe
An unknown cancer began to grow
Lost, alone in her fearÂ
That this news would make him disappearÂ
Holding back the truthÂ
Strength even in her youthÂ
Making up each excuseÂ
Thinking what’s the use
Stage four brain cancer
No on had an answerÂ
Tried pushing him away
But their connection never strayedÂ
He received the saddened penned news
But still today he does refuse
To knowledge her being gone
Preservation of memoirs he’s holding onÂ
A full but empty roomÂ
Himself lost in gloom
A tear soaked final pen
The sad reminder of what had beenÂ
“ promise me to write one a day while I’m away”...
Love you, your untouchable daughterÂ

Oh Patrick 🙊. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the pain that you are going through. A dear friend of mine also lost her daughter (on Sunday) to brain cancer. No parent should ever bury their child... And yet they do. So very sad. You have written such a heartfelt poem that deserves a galaxy of stars awarded to it. Hugs x
Thank you and my thoughts & condolences to the family and friends. Â
much love
