Primordial sea
I shouted with all my might at the sea
The mighty waves roared back at me
I cast an eye at the vast horizon
Realized the meek and insubstantial me.
Humankind thinks it’s in control
But faced with the power of nature it dissolves
Much like our weak resolve.
Ancient as time, primordial the sea can tell stories of the old.
Nature knows the history
knows of the past,
It was there back then
and will be there at the very last.
It cannot be held back or tamed
King kanute tried this and failed.
The ebb the flow the surf the spray
Easily wipes my shout away.
The waves could easily envelope me
Draw me under unable to breathe
Suffocate me as if a lions maw
Stop me breathing
Leave me no more
Life to live
Or air to breathe
Drown me ever so silent and peacefully.
When we stand up against nature
Hoping to be as powerful as our creator
Nature simply wipes us out
In a tsunami of screams and shouts.
When it’s humankind versus nature
Nature wins and not just on paper
Insignificant that’s us
In nature’s powerful age old cusp.
