Poem -

A proposal from long ago.

A proposal from long ago.

Through the foggy twisted

country lanes of time.

So long ago.

I see you asking for my hand

In marriage. .

My first reaction was to say no.

But the winter moon had paled

And given way to springtime.

Mother nature had filled

The green pasture with

new born lambs.

Because I knew what I wanted.

Because I knew nothing at all.

Because my father

thought you were lazy.

And my mother thought

I could do better.

Because you took my childhood

When you first took me.

But mostly

because you were gentle

And would give me space to grow.

And that on far away

sunday mornings.

Would bring me

tea and toast in bed

I said yes.
