Psilocybin (A Yaqui Way Of Knowledge)

Men have been celebrating
Psilocybin
For six thousand years
An escort to the face of God
Share with me the many tears
Where you have ben truly Godly
Eradicate my fears
Show me the other side
The Nagual in us all
Sitting atop the home pyramid
At Teotihuacan
The place where death sits
On your left side
And opens your mind's stone gate
To the newborn heart on the other side of midnight
Where reality separates...
Enter the sensory deprivation chamber
That sets your mind ablaze
Taking your central nervous system a little higher
Yes, Psilocybin is the Power
Peyote, the wisdom
In American Indian philosophy and religious rite
Mushrooms are from God
His version
of living light
The place where the One Mother
With no assistance
Brings forth
A new life
From purest
Meditation
And mind's
flight....

I love this image, Tony. The "stone gate" is the perfect metaphor for a closed mind; and so many of us close our minds to the possibilities and experiences which the Ancients (of many cultures) took for granted. Possibilities and experiences which made them wiser and more humane than many who came after them; the same 'wise' men (and they were all men!) who shaped the world we live in today...a world of stone gates.
This poem; like so many of your poems: describes a path to a better world. You seem to have the map...lead the way!!

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
Your brilliant repertoire is unlimited
Now you take us back six millenniums
Preceding the Shang
Before Narmer, the first Pharaoh
To the true Native Americans
The Tribes of the valleys and of the mountains
The Yaquis, worshipers of the Sun
Conversers with the Gods
Psilocybin their vehicle to the Universe
Their enlightenment of it's never ending mysteries
Their impregnated progeny presented to them at birth
By women of untold might
Crying out not in pain, but in the purest joy
Shouting, "My Dear Husband, I give to you your offspring"
Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
I have to take credit, where credit is due, so I have to admit that although I have heard of the Yaqui Tribes I certainly am not well versified on all their traditions. I saw a great movie in 1980 called "Altered States". Have you ever seen it? It dealt with a professor who visited a Southwestern tribe, who I think were the Yaquis, to experience ultimate magic of their Peyote. Absolute killer movie. As for the woman birthing her own child, I referred to the great movie with Robert Redford starring as Jeremiah Johnson released in 1972. There is a poignant scene where while her husband watches, she gets off her horse, puts her arms around a tree, and delivers her own child, never letting out one cry of pain. She wraps it in a blanket and brings it to her husband. As for the other content, I merely built it off the powerful words you had written.
Peace, Love and Rockets,

My dear brother poet LARRY!!
I have actually spent time with the YAQUI Indians in Oaxaca, Central Mexico...... the interesting thing Is........ the trip was partly inspired by the film "Altered States"....... William Hurt from that film actually came to my house once(long story)...... I've also seen the film "Jeremiah Johnson"...... but the most interesting thing is I've written several posts on my blog about the film Altered States...... and like the movie I've done mushrooms inside a "Sensory Deprivation Chamber"...... and my post on my blog about Sensory Deprivation is my most popular with over 10,000 views......... my friend....... it seems we have much more to discuss than I first Imagined...... especially where it concerns my experiences with metaphysical experiences....... our day will come.......thanx for the honesty brother....... high fives.......ttyl.....T xo. ?☀✴✳
