PTSD AND ME

PTSD AND ME

IT HIT ME ALL AT ONCE,
LIKE A TITLE WAVE
SMASHING INTO THE WALLS
OF MY FRAGILE HEART.

I WAS STANDING ON THE PIER,
ENJOYING THE FACE OF THE SUN
TILT INTO THE ARMS
OF THE SEA.

WHEN A GENTLE BREEZE
ESCAPED THE CLUTCHES
OF THE TOWERING WAVES
AND SAILED MY MIND
INTO YESTERYEARS NIGHTMARE.

FLASHBACKS, AND FEELINGS OF GUILT,
THAT I THOUGHT WERE BURIED
AND LONG FORGOTTEN,
ONCE MORE RAISE ITS UGLY HEAD,
AND BEGAN TO SPEAK, IN THE HOWLING WINDS.

THE TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE
THAT INVADED MY CHILDHOOD
HAD RETURNED,
THE MASSACRE OF MY SCHOOL FRIENDS
IN THE CLASSROOM BY A DEGENERATE SOUL,
HAD CREPT IN UNAWARES.

AND THERE I STOOD,
DEFENSELESS AND AFRAID,
AT THE WATERS EDGE,
CRIPPLED BY PTSD, AND UNABLE TO FLEE.

Under the circumstances you have more than adeptly outlined & without both appropriate intervention and time, symptoms of PTSD may well become an unwelcome but familiar fiend .. I hope these words are the product of a poets creative imaginings and do not reflect personal experiences or are likewise autobiographical ..  All the vey best of all good things though regardless ..
