PUPPY LOVE

PUPPY LOVE

Don't go into the water
Mother said..
Waggling her fingers
And shaking her head

Ok mother, I replied
Just then something in the water
Caught my eyes

A little puppy was being carried away
The wind was blowing antagonizing the waves

What must I do
I thought to myself
As the cries of the puppy
Lingered in my head

It only took a few seconds
For me to make up my mind
I was not a good swimmer
But the puppy was running out of time

So I jumped into the water
And began to swim
Riding the waves confident and unafraid

With outstretched arm
I reached for my new found friend
And this is the way
The story of Buster and me
Begins.

Wilford Barker.
