Purple Crush

Banana bread and coffee; and almond joy creamer; and a
Plastic spoon. “Why not Starbucks”: a bit too expensive.
My thoughts are torn: I ponder a Euclid mind: she’s
Always the color purple. Something deep scrapes a cloud;
And something fire treks the hells. I’m green with envy:
If only to breathe such wit; and here we are, sharing an
English book. It’s her turn to read: I listen, fraught with
Wonder. She announces—such grace: she pauses—such
Perfection. I stumble through the caves; and sweat
Profusely; but such purple, my thoughts. She smiles, my
Direction; and pops a sunflower seed. I sip—a mango
Peach; and ponder a pink scarf. Class has ended; and
Chemistry is next. I walk her near; and push her far: I’m
So young, this way; and so old, that way.
