Readying The Battle..For Your Heart
I lost you to enemy infiltration, dripping of malice
Blood would be more welcome than that
The red oozed from my arrowed heart
Dropping like oil and crude
Seeping into pristine waters...meant for life
But I tasted death and it only showed..
that I could lift my gored and tortured body and soul
Back from the grasp of coming death
I gathered my strength, my desire for love...
that was ripped from me and I employed the fight of ancestors
To my own resolve and struggling virtue
Because I loved you
And promised to win, regain your heart
I readied my warrior soul
And it made me whole
And I envisioned the war party... awaiting my signal...my battle cry
And I will win
And revel in victory...
when I have your love again

MICHAEL!!.... you have done such a fine job of conveying the intent of the warrior heart here.... living up to the promise that is within the very heart of TITLE of your poem...... that steadfast strength that is known to be a part of the American Indian tradition!! ~
~ "The red oozed from my arrowhead heart
Dropping like oil and crude
Seeping into pristine waters.... meant for life..."
Great work here my friend!!........ALL STARS!!...... well penned dear poet brother!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xo. : )
Tony, thank you my friend. I hold onto my culture and I try to convey it across as best as I can. The spirit may suffer awhile, but the warrior and the will to survive will bring it back to life. Thank you for your feedback and vote, brother poet!
What an interesting poem about love, love lost and the spirit to keep going. I liked Tony's review, he was spot on.

So much power in these lines.
Great work here.
Thank you for sharing your poem.
Thank you, Katina. When I write something like this it's like transcendental meditation. I close my eyes and go there. And I find hope. That light at the darkest night. Thank you for your feedback ❤️
Congratulations on your contest win!!!
Michael, Great poem! Congrats on your win! Terry Kay
Thank you friend. I appreciate you reading and for your feedback!
A wonderful poem that speaks to the inner soul of anyone determined to win back a lost love..such passion and strength. A splendid piece of work Michael and a truly worthy winner. Lodigiana x
Thank you. I'm tremendously happy that it won. But sincerely i don't really care about prize money. I won it for my dad, who was a writer himself. I think he had a hand in helping me write that poem. Thank you again my friend!
Brilliant pen! Encore worthy, will pin and read this again for sure!
" To be of good heart "....is, to be of " good cheer " ! Anywhere, you see fit, really. You, have to know, how to give. Within, the scheme of things, there is justice and light, blended to effect.
" Leave no stone unturned " to find your place. " Home is where the heart is " ! And, that is that.
You, must live. To know. The truth of the matter.
Simple, but charmed, composition, transferring foundation messages, well.
Thanks. For, sharing.
