real snowmem

real snowmem

Raymond Brigg's enchanting tale.
of a magical journey to the North Pole,
in the arms of a jolly soul,
draws me in tightly..
remembering
childhood days,
dad building a huge Snowman
in the garden -
So tall. with a hat and
scarf, coal buttons to suit,
I stared out the panel window
willing him to move,
and my dad said "he comes
alive at night",
I did believe..
It was years before
I knew the footprints
in the snow were my dads
boots,
each and every year,
I'm reminded of his spirit,
The Snowman and my lovely daddy.
