Reality Cheque

Reality Cheque (New Edit)
I fell asleep, the sun was bright,
My dreams they felt so true.
Its funny, how things can change,
The hurt we all go through.
Not all bad, this game of life,
Things can seem so rough.
Take each hit and get back up,
Never knew, we are born tough.
The dealer plays the cards of fate,
Feels like a loaded deck.
Just when you thought credit was good,
Hit with, reality cheque.
They say it pays to do things right,
Live life, by the rules.
Take it from a man, who knows,
Destiny won’t suffer fools.
If you think, you’ll get what’s owed,
Or more than you deserve.
Back to school for you my friend,
Play if you have the nerve.
The dealer plays the cards of fate,
Feels like a loaded deck.
No matter how much credit you have,
Hit with, reality cheque.
Bad things happen to one and all,
No care for wealth or race.
The hand of fate can seem so cruel,
No regard for time or place.
We all choose which path to take,
Learn when we get it wrong.
Life is hard for all of us,
An achievement to belong.
The dealer plays the cards of fate,
Feels like a loaded deck.
Just when you thought credit was good,
Hit with, reality cheque.

Thanks Cherie. Now you said it I know what you mean. X
Good day, Grant! I liked this poem, you wield words well! I have had some great times in life, and some hard times in life, and at this point, I realize that the future is a mystery, really. And it is for all humans on this planet, as you say. Thank you for sharing this piece! Hugs, Susan
