Reflection

Reflection

Slicing arrows pass in mid air from both sides!
The buffalo stampede! while the Raccoon hides.
Combatants fall; like the leaves of the sycamore,
Death cheers on the soul taking; ravaging war!

Deer scatter in the woods to avoid coming debt!
Never witnessing mothers or children that wept!
The sky turns very pale, while the clouds bleed red,
Reflecting the horror, of the multitudes dead!

The Groundhog peeks out of his burrow at the scene,
Lifeless war desolation, left quietly serene.
The Hawk surveys the awful pillage and plunder!
While the mighty hibernating Grizzly; doth slumber.

Drifts of snow; bury undulating landscapes,
The stalwart mountains look on, clothed in capes
Sun shimmering reflection on what could have been!
While the moose battle; for a selfish chance to win.

The river moves on; teaching perseverance and love,
Bringing life's cold fluid to the coyote and dove.
The night; hiding the carnage; of woeful mistakes!
Those that steal lives; and the dreaded one that takes!

Jim I am so sorry to hear about your dog Shiloh. This is a wonderful dedication. Your skill for describing nature is just sensational. I felt apart of the wildlife for a moment. Even though there was the undercurrent reminder of war and its chilling repercussions. You painted nature perfectly. Thanks for sharing and much love to you 🌷❤️
