Poem -

Reflections

A strange silence overwhelms me my heart beats faster

like a whirlwind my thoughts encase me I am at their mercy

Ghosts of past memories long since forgotten laid bare before me

I am a victim captured in a movie of my life no pause or stop

Looking at each scene  as if I was a voyeur in this story of my life

Faces flash before me some loved others kept hidden in the dark shadows

Memories I thought were erased forever come flooding back

just like a river in full flow its raging torrents impossible to stop

I am helpless in this space and time  held hostage to my mind

Struggling to break free from this shadowed place my heart aches

I want to feel sunlight on my face blue skies above my head

Fall in love again with life make my heart realise that it is only love that's dead.

                                         The end

                                         Elizabeth droney
