REFLECTIONS

My first visit to Manhattan
Some time in nineteen seventy seven
Coming from a third world country
Where people and animals share the streets
Poverty rains many massages the streets
With their bare feet
In Manhattan
I saw the city lights
The busy streets
Displays of suits I can only wear
With my eyes
So overpriced it makes a poor man sigh
Buildings so tall
I felt ants small
Leaning back trying to count the flights
Even the stars in the nights sky
Was hidden by the florescence lights
That shined so bright
Then to my surprise
Naked pictures caught my eyes
Decorating store front
I never knew freedom could be so blunt
With my mouth wide open
And eyes transfixed
My mind could not conceived
This reality
And there it began
My life in America
My new home in this strange land..
