release

release

did you ever wonder,
why men who worked
under the crust of this
Earth, winning the coal
kept pigeons ?
it lifted their soul !
from the bowels
of Hades they crawl
to the surface
and release
their fluttering hearts
into orbit.
the cage didn't stop
for those men
it went to HeavenĀ
and back on the tail end
of ringed doves..
Yesterday, in my break
I drove to the shops,
in my 'escape'
my heart was lifted
and I had to stop..
children playing..
running laughing.
at school in their break..
I had to stop..
and breath in..
that feeling of freedom
without care..
like I was five and running too
in freshly cut grass,
that followed me into class,
and I wouldn't care
as that's a thing,
adults do.
