Resolution

Resolutions,

 most everyone makes ‘em,

 most everyone breaks ‘em.

Advice columns tell us

 some general things to resolve.

Looks really nice in print,

too bad they probably won’t happen.

So, here I sit, at almost noon,

with almost twelve hours to go

 till the New Year begins.

Why make resolutions

when I probably won’t keep them?

Why make resolutions

when I’ll forget them by this time tomorrow?

I can only hope to do certain things

without having to think about ‘em.

I hope to love my loved ones even more.

I hope not to start up again those habits I’ve kicked.

I hope to be friendlier to those I meet.

I hope to be as helpful as I can.

I hope to spread around the peace and love within me.

And I hope to keep these hopej and more.V
