Resting Light on a Wing and Prayer

Come gentle and come quiet and still
come lay here
just a little while, upon this narrow ledge
of mine,
where eagles, or might they have been
angels, hungry
for a slice of sky, did once so very often
feast, then rest,
lament and cry .. their individual Amens ..
