RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL SON

RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL SON

You brought me forth in love
I was cradled in your arms
You nurtured me with loving kindness
I was cared for I was loved

All my needs you provided
I rested where angels abide
A hedge of flaming swords surround me
My enemies run and hide

But the lights of a distant land
Shone brighter than the North Star
My eyes longed to see its glory
As I embarked on a spiritual war

It broke your heart to see me go
Knowing what lies ahead
But you loved me unconditionally
So you knelt and pray instead

I gathered all my belongings
And from your presence I fled
Soon I was in the distant land
With no place to lay my head

O take me back my father
I repent of the wrongs I've done
I am willing to work for you as your servant
It's me your prodigal son
