revenge and regret

Carved hollow by an endless stream of mirth,Ā
Ā I pull the rug from underneath her feet.
I watch her slowly tumble to the earth,
her cries seep through the laughter as a gleet.
I watch her tidy face dissolve in shreds.
The splintered shards of reason stab my heart
which, held together by the sourest threads,
is given now the grace to fall apart.
Then as I watch the scattering of trust,
through broken words and promises benign,
I wonder why I feel such loath disgust
for one so innocent of foul design.
Oh Judgement, why so tortuous a task
you set, for one so frail of clarity?
Is it, 'truth, so very much to ask
for pride to bow to sound humility?
Sad gesture clenched engraves a carbon scene
of treachery as seems, but is it so?
A fragile beauty slain and torn between
a fool and brittle boast, a flawless foe.
I shed stained tears. Once more my wicked doubt
has tainted chaste, has cast hope to the floor.
Dull echoes of her hurt, her bloodshed shout
will taunt and haunt my mind for ever more.
