Revisiting Worlds

Revisiting Worlds

I'm revisiting worlds in and out of Time.
Can you recall the rose garden where we played
in summertime? Now it's bathed in spectral light.
Only in memory's realms, does it remain.
O all those golden moments, when we were lost
in wonder, can never be again! We
only taste shadow fruit. For that is the cost
of dwelling too long on partial fantasies.
Presently, all the once bright swings are rusted
in the park of dreams. The soul has become dry.
And fragile, verdant earth, is now brown and scorched.
I hope the cool, redeeming rain will arrive,
after the heat, and the countless, futile trials.
I perceive a future where we're finally
freed from the confines of this stern, starless night.
I guess we have the art and the poetry.
to keep us sane, when things begin to get,
out of hand. We must let go of deep regrets.
