Poem -

ribbons of you

the
photograph
shows you smiling
dressed as a caveman
your mates all around

zinging, exuberant
drunk
I was there
my lad in his prime
your own self without care

the photo
is
dusty
it lies in a box
tied with ribbons of you +
some precious black locks
and,

I wish I'd not found it
I wish I'd not looked
see, I can't be remimed
of just what god took
away

take a breath
make a coffee
gaze at the sky
