Rich

Rich

I have felt the thrill of life
And seen seven chicks become hens
I have held a newborn baby
And felt the rushing wind

I have known what freedom is
And seen the spangled banner wave
Above my land of the free
Over the home of the brave

I’ve seen the world softened by snow
And listened to the winter hush
I seen a flower raise its head
And listened to the singing thrush

I’ve seen the bursting life,
Felt the mellow summer heat
Seen colored leaves drift earthward
And felt the icy winter sleet

I blown on fuzzy dandelions
And scattered the fragile seeds
Felt rough bark beneath my hands
And danced with waving reeds

I’ve been awed by sunset glow
And seen the clouds unfurl
In all these things who can’t but say
“Truly, I am a rich girl!”
