RIP JOHN PRINE

A child was born and raised in Illinois
Learnt to play the guitar when he was a boy
Served in the US army he became a man
To become a songwriter was his plan

In the early seventies he got his big break
Left all other musicians in his wake
Everyone knows I love the lyrics to a song
John Prine wrote the best I'm not wrong

Another helpless victim of Covid 19
Deprived us of a talent so rarely seen
Rest easy John your songs are your legacy
Your music is so very special to me
