RIP JOHN PRINE

A child was born and raised in IllinoisĀ
Learnt to play the guitar when he was a boy
Served in the US army he became a manĀ
To become a songwriter was his planĀ

In the early seventies he got his big breakĀ
Left all other musicians in his wakeĀ
Everyone knows I love the lyrics to a songĀ
John Prine wrote the best I'm not wrongĀ

Another helpless victim of Covid 19
Deprived us of a talent so rarely seenĀ
Rest easy John your songs are your legacy
Your music is so very special to me
