The River’s Nurture

The sun glistens

off the water

shinning through the deep river,

to show her many layers.

She roars gently,

but enough to be heard

being provoked by the wind.

The sounds of the ripples, as they curve,

crash the rocks that outline

her body.

The garbage lay deep

through the layers of brown water.

Tin cans, rusted fishing hooks, and used cups

float by.

The muck

brown, and thick

tells a story,

one she is proud of.

The remnants of her

past,

and pollution

of her long       existence.

The river may appear dirty,

brown, and worn down,

but she is

strong,

beautiful,

and calming.

Calming to those who

sit by her,

confide in her.

With a book,

a journal,

a story.
