Robot Malfunctions

Robot Malfunctions

My constitution changes yet
you demand I be 'consistant'
Do you not mistake sameness for authenticity?

Would your smile remain if they told you
your work is no longer valid

Would your voice chirp if you had
an empty bank account two months straight

Your words remain coherent
with head dizzy from hunger pains

Would you live impassioned about social projects if
they took your child away

Would you still smell like roses
while sleeping on the pavement

Still keep the laughter
when a loved one has just died

Would you still paint the moon
when fire's burnt your eyes

Would everything that matters to them still matter to you

priorities not bend--
ship full steam ahead

iceburg after iceburg?

Some find out the hard way
Pray that won't be you
