Rock star

Rock star

I let you walk on me

Because I see you’re small

Too fragile to walk the ground of reality

I let you play pretend

Because I see your attempts

To rush past a state of wrongs and regret

I let you believe I’m a sucker for your lies

Which spill effortlessly from your lips

Because denial is the only world in which you can cope

The thousand truths you’ve locked away

Without a glance or thought

Would burn you through and through

Friendly hands are flickered away

As are your options to fight demons

Instead you pick flight and hover above,

Feeling grand and righteous while we see a lonely figure far off

I avoid frowns and confrontations

Because you revel in drama and attention

The foundation of your exaggerations as your gush to your friends

A story a thousand times removed from the truth

A version of truth is that you are loved

A rock star in your world

But alone to us.
