Rose Garden

Summer is the time
for dreaming
as the light reaches
out to us
before the break of dawn
Summer is the time
for our imagination
to flourish
to hope
bridging the gap
between idealism
and realism
Making the impossible
possible
Courtney
there is a treasure
in the neighbor's
rose garden
Unfortunately at the moment
no one could
see it
labor efforts
were unappreciated
with a belt
Decades later
the welts
have healed
and though
the children
have grown
the little boy
stills wonders
about the
treasure
in the rose garden
Maybe...
I will find
my trusty
army shovel
and start
digging......
