ROY

Roy, the name l've never forgotten,
How can I?
Whenever l heard your name, my mind shifts back to some years gone by,
We were very young then,
When a shy little girl like me,
Wouldn't know what to do,
Everytime you came close by.
What or how do l know?
Over the years, we have lived our own lives,
Never spoken for a very long time,
And the one chance we once had was put to a halt,
That flickering flame we kept secret in our little hearts, was put off for a while.
Then we drifted apart once again,
Lived and loved in our own separate worlds.
Yet, in a strange way, fate has led us back together
When we least expected.
We've been strangers...
But not totally.
For so long, that secret flame has suddenly rekindled
It came alive when words were spoken
Of the feelings we kept hidden From each other so long ago.
But once it was revealed,
It has opened a magical door.
And there we stepped in and
Filled our hearts with pure love
Now we have all the chances we never had
From then on and everyday,
We whispered our love for each other
Wanting to be close together...
But how can we be?
As for me however,
I cherish and treasure every moment with you
Never letting you go.
Our love for each other
Is tremendously fulfilling for me
And for that, I'm truly happy
For you were my first love after all
And first love never dies as they say so
Indeed l am a living proof that it is so
And you will be my last and my forever
Roy, how l love you so!

Awww exciting and wholesome. Tells a deep and personal story. I love how you have conveyed it. Peace and smiles to you my friend. Following because of this! Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea
Thank you for the nice comment😊. It's indeed a personal story. I actually wrote this in January of 2017, kept it and forgot about it. Then l found it hidden in one of the folders. So this was actually the very first poem l've written then followed by "The Wait" and "Puppy Love" (after more than 3 years). Things have changed recently and now we're parted once again.
