Ruination Of The Species

Ruination Of The Species

The ice age of love is quickly approaching.

Lovers in bed will be frozen solid

and the kisses spent on park benches

will become

testimonial monuments of affections forever lost

as they breathed into another’s vapor.

These spent cavities

unsecured by the flesh of running blood

are now anchored

into the submissiveness of natures dynasty.

How tragic the consequences

when the World has abused the mantel of love

braising in its fires our egos.

The ice age will cover any remembrance

of lipstick encasings

or frolicking erotic gowns once worn.

Bridges that led to forever lands

will bite the wings of the fairies that savored them

who became exonerated by their lanterns

and gathered their dust from lovers.

Everything and everyone will become entombed

and sacrosanct to the warmth and glow

the Sun will continue to emit its Glorious Light.

Penetrating the skin of ice

eyes half framed or fully open will quiver

as if they were still alive

insisting on a last and vibrant breath.

Only the carriage and horse will continue on

carrying the burdens of the World.

An open Twinkie package

and its hard frozen composition will survive

as eatable and still franchising to life.

How will the rodents fare

when the waste of mankind has foreclosed

and not a seed from a fruit

will have another chance to bear itself?

Poets looking for a short synopsis

will not find it in the ice age summary of pain

for the narrative will not consume

the positive traction of rubber wheels forwarding

and enlisting ideas of its fast food natures.

To have our heart doomed in ice

we cast our prayers to the Dinosaur of yore

knowing that it all will end in this amethyst.

Something for the neck

whose Queen will barely mention its impediments

and sacrificial offerings to the World of Love.

Will love be forever gone and extinct

as we journey from my civilization to the next?

Will God still be among His Believers

whose frozen Bibles were entombed with them?

God will always survive

as men create a ruination of their species.
