Ruined Empire: ( Inspired By Blade Runner, 2049)

Ruined Empire: ( Inspired By Blade Runner, 2049)

Across the desert,
sordid statues lie scattered,
like idols, amidst
radiation's orange glow.
Babylon ruined:
Elvis Presley holograms,
Frank Sinatra clones
flashing intermittently
in spectral bars of
this burnt-out cityscape.
Lady Luck has fled.
Once there was belief in grand,
gold- tinted futures.
Now everything has ended.
Ashes of roses
fill vast graveyards of romance.
O nothing is real!
And perhaps it never was.
All just fakery,
even the neon- lit, cool
decadence of those
former times, buried under
vast sands forever.
Fragile empires always fall.
