The Rush of Softball

As I step up to bat,

I feel the weight

Of the metal beast in my hands.

After a deep breath,

I am ready to slay the highlighted creature.

As pitcher whips the ball towards me,

My bat licks its chops,

Hungry for the ball.

When I make contact with the creature,

I can feel the electrifying connection

Between it and my metal sword.

I drop my bat and run to the safety of the bases.

My cleat hits first,

Then second,

The rush of excitement fills my body

As I slide to third base.

Safe.

The third baseman’s eyes gleam with hatred.

An evil smirk creeps across my face.

The pitcher whips the ball again.

As the creature flies through the air,

The world turns to slow motion.

I can hear my heart beating within my chest.

When I see the ball hit my teammates bat,

I fling myself towards home plate.

The roaring of the crowd deafens me.

My body rips through the dirt

As I slide to victory.

… I am safe once again.

Would You?

Would You?

If I told you I missed you, would you care?

If I told you I couldn't live without you, would you be...
