Save our Koala

Koala Nearing Extinction

Save our Koala

Save our Koala

Cuddly little teddy bears
Munching on some leaves
Camouflaged in branches
of Eucalyptus trees.

Native to Australia
In shades of brown and grey
These passive cute marsupials
just sleep and eat all day.

Indigenous name ‘Koala’
Meaning “not to drink”
Seldom want for water
the reason I would think.

Young is called a joey
Precisely blind at birth
Nurtured by its mother
most precious form on earth.

Once hunted for their fur
Culled like somewhat pest
Killed by reckless drivers
Saved since much protest.

Need to save their habitat
from raging fires and drought
Propagate more Gum trees
or
they’ll perish without doubt.
