School

We go to school to learn about numbers and language. We leant how to make friends and how to talk in front of crowds; hot to get detentions and how to dress in uniform so that every ounce of who we are is drained in the shadow of being like everybody else.
I learnt how to write, in fact without school I wouldn't be able to say this right now.

I wish that at school I learnt how to breathe in chest twisting situations, how to make someone fall in love with who they are. I wish that there was a subject for keeping friends with people that you need in order to stay sane, because you will always miss them more than they miss you. A class on how to be okay and how to cope when you aren't about to get out of bed in the morning or even look at food without breaking down would be nice too.

I guess I just wish that along with numbers and how to write, I wish they taught me how to survive, because honestly? Right now, I feel as though I can't.
