SCRABBLE WITH UNCLE JACK

Uncle Jack was master of the board
When it came to Scrabble he was adored
Long words he knew and triple scores
A nice way to spend time with him indoors

I could never beat him come what may
That all changed though the other day
I started with a word Jack shook his head
That's not a word is what Jack said

In the dictionary the word was there
Fifty two points for me so I didn't care
Jack was in trouble his tiles were poor
He replied with a very low score

My turn next and I was really on fire
Forty seven points could have been higher
Jack responded his score was really low
Saved by Auntie May said he must go

Fair play to Jack he's gracious in defeat
One of the nicest men you could ever meet
Jack died last night I'm afraid in his sleep
My memories of Scrabble I will forever keep
