Scream!

Over distance, travels beat of drum,
Message to ears of hunters,
I am on the run!

White skin stands out on forest darkness,
Their swart, I shall not see,
As they come for me!

Flee, from unholy pygmies!
Man flesh devouring abominations,
We stumbled upon!

Every rustle, every noise, frozen I stand,
Ready to fight and rather die!
They shall not cook me...alive!

Ragged breaths, pain within lungs,
Scratches and blood my body adorn,
As everything grabs at me!

Sudden freedom, break from trees embrace,
Over veld, swiftly flee,
Fear evaporates as a mist!

On my heels they now bay,
However civilization beckons,
Safety from sadistic savages!

Betrayed! Given back by heathen scum!
Bartered for safety of village,
Doomed to be cooked...alive!

Back in cage, tears flow freely,
Watch the feasting and cavorting,
Upon the remains of my friend!

Fire burning, cracking, raging,
Tied to a pole, ready for the rotisserie,
Friends screams return to keep company!

Fire licks, caresses at skin,
Blistering, heating, cooking,
All around merriment abounds...while I scream!
