SEAGULL

SEAGULL

 
over the swell i soar rebuffed ; undefeated
with my keen eye upon a blue peak
in a maelstrom of workaday
miracles.
 
I peck at a shipwreck and sing shanties.
 
my egg tooth whistling
like a golden throat
befeathered
by toil 
so close to
the sea-
 
The sun is the ground.
