Secret untold

Secret untold

Curled up tightΒ
A corner of the roomΒ
The only safetyΒ
A locked door
A pleading..silenced,Β Β
No more, no more

The pain of shame felt
Secrets untoldΒ
The truth too heinousΒ
Who will listenΒ
When lies unfoldΒ
No more, no more

Cries of despair hidden
Holding on to hopeΒ
Trying to find a wayΒ
A way to stop the circusΒ
They don’t hear,Β
No more, no moreΒ

Broken bones, burning skin
Tortured mind,Β
No escape, no reprieveΒ
This life, is no life to live
But it’s a life lived
Her hand hits him again.
No more, no more

Thank you PoetessDarkly. There are many men who suffer domestic violence, yet society takes their claims less seriously or completely ignores. Maybe one day it will be given the same importance as domestic violence against women x

This hit home with me, i've actually lived this as a reality. For me there was a very personal and humiliating shame haunting me. Eventually i ran.
Your words took me back to those feelings.
Very well written.

I’m so sorry this happened to you, Dusk. I wrote this after watching the Johnny Depp trial & knowing others who have been in this terrible situation. The shame you speak of & others is palpable. You are a survivor & the courage to flee is to be applauded. I stand with you & all other victims of domestic abuse who are the forgotten ones based on their gender πŸ’•

Thank you Tracey. Though I have been regularly writing poetry for about six years now I have never been able to broach this subject or what it was like for me. I realise my 'nom de plume' doesn't make clear my gender, I'm male.

You will write it when it’s meant to be born. Maybe it never will. Only you will know when the right time will be. Keep writing & inspiring β˜ΊοΈπŸ™

Hi Tracey, hope you are very well. A great write that challenges societies perceptions. Abuse is abuse whoever is receiving it and this needs to be highlighted, well done you! Enjoy the holidays and Merry Christmas to you. xxxx
