Seeking Serendipity
In the blackness where only the silver elements see me
Enfolded byΒ the watery glow of the lunar light,
I wait for destiny to find meβ¦β¦
To seal or reveal my fate
Β
The walk from the knowledge of certainty ,
into the veiled future of Destiny,
is a long andΒ lonely one,
predestined future would remove all doubt
Β
Stumbling upon serendipity perhaps,
Β pretold but neverΒ anticipated..
Could be my salvation and my lodestone.

Thanks so much for that pal! I have read so many poems that I felt sure should be nominated but always end up a littleΒ surprised at what are oftenΒ actually nominated..not sure what the judges criteria is though?Β I think they tend to often nominate newcomers which is quite nice and I guess gives them an incentive to continue... The winning choices are usually pretty good though I would say and deserving the win .You should readΒ Lodigiana'sΒ poemΒ 'PlayΒ to the Crowd'Β which I think is a tongue in cheek piece about exactly what you have said and pretty much really sums up the slightly puzzling choices sometimes- however what I would say is that, certainly when I write,Β it's so that I hope people enjoy sharing the experience and if thats what happens then thats the real pleasure and the contest is only secondary- and I hope most of us feel that...
