Self Discovery

Your reflection in the mirror
sits across from you
dainty and not unlike porcelain.
Not one hair is askew.
You look perfect
and untouched
but in reality, it's your one defect.
You make yourself presentable
and your soul, made upÂ
to be rentable.
You're selling yourself out;
the real you
behind that lipstick covered pout
behind that caked on make up
underneath that Victoria's push-up.
Who are you trying to impress?
You don't need that.
No one needs that stress.
Don't rely upon the opinions of them...
because under that cover up
is the real, reflecting undiscovered gem.

Thank you Susan. (:
Sydney
sassy, classy and to the point with the intentions of noting true complete beauty(inner and out), cost just as common sense, nothing at all and you the author appears, to be one whom is secure with herself and with her dressed up counter part in the poem,a word of constructive advice, gives she, "To dress some what down." Some people may figuratively make the material but the material, will never truly make the people...... Very nice poem..
