Sentido

oh
this sickly sweet
subtle
sadness--
how i've missed you.
your familiarity has burrowed
into my bones
and nested there
so that i refrain from moving
as to not to disturb
the thing that so wickedly
curls
around my once beating heart.
and now my skin has rotted away
leaving exposed and brittle bones
with gnarled branches
sharp briers
musty leaves
and oh i was once so pretty
but now i am gaunt and weary
so i rejoice in this
sweet sick subtle sadness
for it means that i am no longer hollow,
filled with the bitterness of winter yes,
but the whistling wind is nostalgic
and i feel as though
i am not so alone.
