Shag carpet

Shag carpet

My words are clogged up like a drain after summer day in the sand and sun
My exploding pen creates  islands at the end of my sentences
Passion flowing through my tightly strung hands
As my words tumble over each other to be first on the page
Eraser shavings clouding my desk in neat piles
Divided by a swift movement of my nail file
Bitten down fingernails tap away as more inspiration floods my brain
I wish I could say I breathe poetry but poetry breathes me
My eyes scan the page looking for any fly aways
That only contribute to my pain
Flinging my thoughts between my hands
cupping them as if ready to cup sand
I guess i dont need disney land to have fun
I mean i've just begun
Someone tapping and wrapping at my bedroom door
That can only be expressed as an eye sore
Something to do to take me off my frustrations
Maybe it’s just my imagination
Kicking and screaming begging for help
As i’m filled with so much self doubt
As i spin in a circle of my ideas
I swirl the colors across my nails
Each it’s own pattern
Stripes, spots and cheetah print
The paint comes in different colors
Letdown, heartache, and isolation
By far my favorites are abandoned, hollow, and alone
My toes explore the shag under my feet
Slightly wet from my defeat
Mirror in the corner made to fix your features
I wonder if it would fix me if i stepped through
Following a literal butterfly
Maybe my poetry would shift along with it
I suddenly pushed back in my reality
A puddle of letdown lay at my feet
I dip my pencil in and write
The words that flow across
The page
